After Venus rose and two deer fled (unrelated events), I continued to stand at the edge of the Greensboro Road field waiting for Mercury to appear (it was quite visible last night). The vigorous chorusing of the wood frogs and peepers was piercing. Yet, somehow, I picked up the peenting of a woodcock at the east end of the field (and no longer cared about Mercury...).  I wonder where he has been....
