We are cancelling our meeting tonight because at 7 pm, the Hanover City Council will vote on a ceasefire resolution that denies Israel’s right to defend itself against terror.
This resolution
* Does not condition the ceasefire on the release of the 129 hostages still held in Gaza
* Fails to acknowledge that Hamas is rejecting ceasefire proposals because they cannot locate 40 living hostages in the humanitarian category
* Fails to acknowledge that Hamas broke the ceasefire on Oct. 7
* Denies Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist violence
In its current form, the resolution only serves to demonize Israel, undermine its existence, and alienate Jews and Israelis.
