We are cancelling our meeting tonight because at 7 pm, the Hanover City Council will vote on a ceasefire resolution that denies Israel’s right to defend itself against terror.
This resolution
Does not condition the ceasefire on the release of the 129 hostages still held in Gaza
Fails to acknowledge that Hamas is rejecting ceasefire proposals because they cannot locate 40 living hostages in the humanitarian category
Fails to acknowledge that Hamas broke the ceasefire on Oct. 7
Denies Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorist violence
In its current form, the resolution only serves to demonize Israel, undermine its existence, and alienate Jews and Israelis.
