They were still roasting immature wheat in the Konya plain in the 1960's -  
the children all ate it with no ill effects except stomach ache - I do not 
know  whether this was specifically because they were storing much more 
wheat than  usual as there was a row with the government who wanted to buy it 
cheap to send  to the Eastern vilayets or whether it was just normal practice.
