This morning a breeding plumage Great Egret was lingering in the wet area along Campbell Flats Road in Norwich by the dike and drainage ditch until at least as late as 10:45. A Solitary Sandpiper flew into that wet area around that time. At times the heron was perched in a nearby tree. 

The Great Egret is presumably the same individual seen and photographed by other observers yesterday morning at Pompy west of I-91.

Bobolinks were present further upstream, flying back and forth across the Ompompanoosuc River between fields in the vicinity of 3 residences which are alongside the road. 

The Campbell Flats cornfield has now been fully harrowed. Campbell Flats Road is to be closed by the small orchard for 2 hours tomorrow morning for culvert work; the wet area should still be accessible from Route 132.
