It was first seen flying south over the Connecticut River just in front of the island that lies some 400+ yards below the Wilder Dam overlook. Also present on the water were two male common mergansers. In the adjacent woods were seen or heard five American crows, one pileated woodpecker, a tufted titmouse and a common raven. Overhead on the transmission lines near the dam's powerhouse were perched 39 rock pigeons.
