I like to go down to Windsor to bird at least once a spring. Usually a
suite of birds that are hard to find in Thetford.
I started up Juniper Hill Rd (off Rt 5) at about 6. Good birds along the
way...eventually runs into Marton Rd and the retired SE Reg Prison.
Old orchards here..open fields, and some scrubby habitats. (lots of
invasive plants, ugh).
In order of appearance: species not #'s.
Carolina Wren, Warbling Vireo, Veery, No. Waterthrush, Least Flyc., Yellow
Warblers, Swamp Sp., E. Wood Peewee, Ch. Swift, Co Yellowthroat.
Ovenbird, Ev. Grosbeak, Gray Catbirds, C-sided Warbler, Bl and Wh Warb.,
Red-eyed Vireo, Blue-winged Warbler 2 (target specie), House Wren, Field
Sp., Balt. Or.,
Ea. Towhee 2 (target specie), Tennessee Warbler 1(target specie), Wood
Thrush, Wilson's Snipe (winnowing !) 2, Sav. Sp., Indigo B., Bobo.,
I do a huge loop.. Ending up on Hunt Rd back to Rt 5. Then into the
Runnemede Property.
More: nice looks at Red-b Woodpecker, Co Loon, East. Kingbirds, Bank
Swallows, Willow Flyc., and Spotted Sandpiper.
Not bad for a "get-outa-jail Free" card.
Happy spring.
