A reminder that the Mascoma Chapter is hosting a birding outing at the historic Bedell Bridge site beginning at 7:00 a,m,
Last year, 39 species were seen. Highlights included an orchard oriole, a red-bellied woodpecker, three types of flycatchers (least, willow and great-crested) as well as three types of vireos (red-eyed, warbling and blue-headed).
The event is free and open to the public. It is too be led by Blake Allison. Walking is over level terrain. Bring binoculars or a spotting scope if you have one. Sunscreen, water and insect repellant are recommended.
Directions: Attendees wishing to carpool to the site should gather at the "park 'n ride lot" at the Norwich end of the Ledyard Bridge by 6:30 a.m. Those wishing to drive themselves can access the Bedell Bridge site from either VT or NH. From VT, take I-91 to Bradford, exit 16, and go right towards the Connecticut River on VT Rt. 25. Cross into NH. and after about 100 yards, turn left onto River Rd. Follow it north to its junction with NH Rt. 10. Turn left toward Haverhill Common. The park entrance is on the left about 50 yards passed the common. Follow the park's dirt access road to the boat launch parking area. From NH, take NH Rt.10 north to Haverhill Common and proceed to the park entrance and meeting area as described above.  Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon
