This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, October 5th, 
2015.



A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was first seen visiting a birdfeeder in East Andover on 
September 27th and has been seen everyday since then.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was seen in Rochester on October 4th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at the Concord Community Gardens located 
off of Birch Street in Concord on October 3rd and 4th, A DICKCISSEL was seen 
here on the 4th.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and an AMERICAN BITTERN were seen in Sunapee on 
October 4th.



A MOURNING WARBLER was seen in Temple on September 28th.



A HUDSONIAN GODWIT was seen in Hampton Harbor on October 3rd.



2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 2 AMERICAN-GOLDEN PLOVERS, a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 7 
KILLDEER, 7 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, a LEAST SANDPIPER, a 
SOLITARY SANDPIPER, 2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, and a WILSON'S SNIPE were all seen 
at Powder Mill Pond in Hancock on September 30th.



A PECTORAL SANDPIPER, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, a BLUE-WINGED TEAL, and 5 RUSTY 
BLACKBIRDS were seen at World End Pond in Salem on September 3rd.



4 LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen along the coast on September 30th.



62 CORY’S SHEARWATERS, a MANX SHEARWATER, and 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS were seen 
along the coast in Rye on September 30th.



27 SURF SCOTERS, 19 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 2 BLACK SCOTERS, 3 RED-NECKED 
GREBES, and 4 PIED-BILLED GREBES were seen at Cherry Pond, part of the 
Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary in Jefferson, on October 1st.



A COMMON EIDER was seen migrating over Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on 
October 3rd.



A GADWALL was seen on the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on October 2nd.



2 NORTHERN SHOVELERS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
October 4th.



2 RUDDY DUCKS were seen in Rochester on October 3rd.



A female NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen on Lake Sunapee on October 2nd and 3rd.



A GREAT EGRET was seen at Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack on October 3rd.



There were several reports of AMERICAN PIPIT, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, LINCOLN’S 
SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, and RUSTY BLACKBIRD from scattered locations during 
the past week.



RAPTOR migration is under way with migrating raptors being counted daily at 
the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough, and at the 
Carter Hill Observatory in Concord. Pack Monadnock has tallied more than 
18,000 raptors since September 1st, and Carter Hill has counted over 7,000 
raptors since September 1st.
