I agree with Ted Levin, I think it is an immature Black-crowned Night
Heron. In the picture of the hammock, large white spots ARE visible on the
wings, immature Yellow-crowns have very small spots on the wings. The
general shape and size of the bird, especially the one where it is standing
on the ground, doesnt look right for a bittern and the bill is too short
and stocky.   Jeff
