So if the comments that the bird was driven by starvation, which I can  
well imagine, are right., would this bird have possibly eaten its  
mate? It did appear that one was larger than the other that flew in  
and attacked.
Thanks for the feedback. I must say i was ready to see a squirrel get  
eaten, but not another barred owl! Last night, for first time in a  
while, no hooting at night, and no owl in the tree this morning.
