We regularly get both gray and red. This year its has been four grays and a couple of reds. I put out coarse, cracked corn to divert them from the sunflower seed and meet with some success, but they do like their sunflower seed. The squirrels grudgingly share the platform feeder with the blue jays.

I've been feeding birds here in Orford for twenty years. Only in the past few years have I had Grey Squirrels at my feeders. This winter so far Greys outnumber Reds.

Today I saw my first ever grey squirrel on this property in an apple tree by the feeders. Is this a local shift or is it happening elsewhere?
