Seeing Betsy's peregrine posting makes me wonder. About 9:45 a.m. this morning, I was sitting in traffic on NH 12A in W. Lebanon at the KMart Plaza traffic signal. Suddenly there was in front of me a steady shower of pigeon feathers in all shapes and sizes falling to the pavement. Obviously, something hit that bird very hard to disperse its feathers so. Not a place you would expect to see a cooper's or sharp-shinned. Peregrine? The plaza is a couple of miles downstream from Wilder Dam. Intriguing possibility but could not be confirmed. I couldn't find any visual clue about what might have caused the feather shower before I had to move due to the light changing.

A peregrine falcon was perched atop the large metal tower near the Wilder dam around 8:00 this morning. He swooped down as if to chase a pigeon but didn't catch it, then flew back up to the tower and perched with one leg tucked up.
