About 6:12 PM this evening, 5 Common Nighthawks flew northward over
the cove on the Vermont side of the Connecticut River south of the
Ledyard Bridge, which links Norwich, VT, and Hanover, NH. Later, about
7:00 PM, 2 nighthawks appeared above the cove and flew off in a
southward direction. All nighthawks seen this evening were flying over
Norwich but not many yards west of the NH -VT border.

Other aerial insectivore birds around the Ledyard Bridge area this
evening included an Eastern Phoebe, at least one Eastern Kingbird, and
at least 7 Cedar Waxwings. No swifts or swallows were seen.

At least two Baltimore Orioles were present, and occasional short bits
of oriole song were heard.

George Clark
Norwich, VT
