Sitting out on my upper deck in the sun, heard Brown Creeper's lovely little song several times. I don't know if this is abnormal this time of "winter", but I guess the chickadees start this early, so I hope it's not another sign of the apocalypse! (as I am interpreting all the weird weather and bird events this year). Speaking of which, I think my Winter resident female Red-bellied Woodpecker may have a suitor trying to make contact with her. I haven't seen him, but think I have heard calls coming from different directions from where she is. Doug Hardy said they have had a male I think within a mile of my house, so maybe they will get together... ( Even though I'm not sure what it means about the end of the world and all)
