Subject: Greetings from Ohio University

May 18, 2006

Dear Fellow Scholars and Librarians:

Greetings from Ohio University!

In order to promote East Asian studies by its Internet visibility,
facilitate
communication among scholars and librarians via an extensive network,
and link
the general public to East Asian experts through a convenient
channel, Ohio
University Library has recently designed an online database: Scholars
and
Librarians in East Asian Studies (North America)
http://cicdatabank.library.ohiou.edu/opac/index.html. Users of this
database
will be able to easily locate information on selected scholars and
librarians in
the field of East Asian studies in North America via a quick search
by name,
affiliated institute, academic interests, or photograph. This
database is
modeled after Scholars and Librarians in Overseas Chinese Studies
http://cicdatabank.library.ohiou.edu/opac/scholar.php, which was
successfully
launched in March 2006 and has been well received by numerous users.
The debut
of the database Scholars and Librarians in East Asian Studies (North
America) is
scheduled for September 2006 and it will be updated in compliance
with the
requests by scholars and librarians in a timely manner. We are
currently in dire
need of your assistance to get this project off the ground and
running. I have
attached an Information Form to this letter for you to fill out so
that your
data will be correctly established in the database. Items marked with an
asterisk on this form are required as the related information is
crucial to the
database, while items without an asterisk are optional. It would be
wonderful if
you could also attach your photograph with the form. My return mail
address,
e-mail address, and fax number are as follows:
