* 4 Questions you need to ask yourself - each and every time; launching
a successful job search *

Please join presenter Victoria Blodgett for a session on  the critical 4
questions each of us should ask prior to launching a job search. It is
designed to help identify our priorities, and to ready our language for
the development of our written materials and interview preparation. 

Bio:  30 years in higher education, 25 working directly with graduate
students and postdocs at Cornell University, Yale University and I
currently serve as the Assistant Dean for graduate student and
postdoctoral affairs at University of Connecticut. 

Elected to serve as the inaugural president of the Graduate Career
Consortium, the only international professional organization focused
specifically on career related issues for graduate students and postdocs
at R1 institutions. 
 
Invited speaker on Career related talks around the nation and closer to
home at places such as New York Academy of Sciences, UNC and HERC. Cited
in numerous books and articles and invited guest on WBUR Boston related
to topics associated on career pathways for Ph.D's

Please join us for a workshop with Kenneth Skinner from Harvard. 

Bio: Kenneth Skinner is from Newark, NJ and graduated from Morehouse
College with a biology degree. He is currently a chemical biology PhD
candidate researching how anesthetics modulate ion channels. He enjoys
mentoring, teaching, and identifying professional development
opportunities for students and researchers. As a former cross-country
runner, Ken likes marathon training in his free time.

Entries *

Submissions are now open for 2017 entries.
 
For the fifth year in a row, the Science and SciLifeLab Prize for Young
Scientists offers four recent PhDs a career-making opportunity. Could
you (or your grad student) be one of them?

Recent doctoral graduates in the life sciences may submit a 1000-word
essay based on their thesis work. Four winners, in different categories,
will be selected for this international award. 
 
Application deadline: July 15, 2017
 
The winners will:
• Be published by Science
• Receive up to 30,000 USD in prize money
• Be honored in Stockholm, Sweden during Nobel week
