First Generation College Grad Students’ Lunch

a 4 yr college degree) 

Are you the first in your family to go to college? If so, then perhaps
navigating graduate school has its share of joys
and challenges.

Come enjoy lunch and talk to other first-generation college graduate
students about their experiences. We will have a faculty member joining
us as well.

Do you want to improve your writing skills? Would you like to earn $50?
Do you have an interest in communicating science to lay-audiences?
We’re looking for writers for the School web page. Each article
published earns you $50. Please email Amanda Skinner for more details.
 

Do you want a fun, hands-on outreach experience? The Farmer’s Market in
Lebanon has agreed to allow the School to host a booth at their weekly
Thursday markets. We have plenty of hands-on activities to showcase, and
welcome your ideas for more, and need a couple of students who will be
able to host the booth. Please email Amanda Skinner for more details.
 
 



* GRAD Activities Coordinator Needed - great on-campus job! *

The Graduate Activities Coordinator is an essential participant in the
programming for all graduate students in the School of Graduate and
Advanced Studies at Dartmouth College. Under the supervision of the
Assistant Dean of Graduate Student Affairs, the Graduate Activities
Coordinator will plan, coordinate, schedule, and implement cultural and
social programming sponsored by the Graduate Student Council and
administrative offices at Dartmouth.

If you are interested in the position, please send a resume, cover

Please note, the grad activities coordinator must be an enrolled
graduate student in good academic standing at Dartmouth, possessing
strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and a high level of
personal and intellectual maturity. Graduate students on full stipend
may not apply. This is a one year position with potential to renew.

Position Purpose:
The Graduate Studies Activities Coordinator (GSAC) is an essential
participant in the programming for all the Arts and Sciences graduate
students at Dartmouth College. Under the supervision of the Assistant
Dean of Graduate Student Affairs, the GSAC will plan, coordinate,
schedule, and implement cultural and social programming sponsored by the
Graduate Student Council (GSC) and administrative offices at Dartmouth. 

As both an employee of the office of the School of Graduate and Advanced
Studies and an executive board member of the GSC, the GSAC serves as an
important bridge between the administration and the graduate student
body.

Key Accountabilities:
-Designs unique and relevant social events and programs that appeals to
diverse populations of graduate students in order to foster a graduate
community
-Collaborates with and supports GSC-recognized student groups in
planning events and programs
-Attends and actively participates in monthly GSC general and executive
board meetings 
-Writes and edits articles for website and social media
-Works with the grad communications coordinator to promote social media
streams
-Initiates collaboration with other offices on campus for programming.




Miscellaneous:
-Performs other administrative duties as assigned
-Weekend/evening work is often required, especially at certain times of
the year (Graduation weekend, Graduate Student Appreciation Week etc.)

Position Requirements:
Skills & Knowledge
-Excellent oral and written communication skills, preferably with a
background in writing and/or public relations
-Strong grasp of social media
-Extremely strong interpersonal skills
-General familiarly with Dartmouth College policies and procedures (or
willingness to learn)
-Ability to motivate and work effectively with diverse groups and
individuals.
-Ability to organize own work, coordinate projects with others, and
manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Ability to work independently and reliably within a fixed budget
