Would you like to learn about the healthcare system & patient care
from a PATIENT'S perspective?
Are you interested in connecting with patients and getting to know them beyond their medical condition?
Would you like to visit patients with medical students at the Geisel School of Medicine?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please consider joining The Dartmouth Ears Program this year!!

Dartmouth EARS, a collaboration between the Nathan Smith Society and Geisel students, is a volunteer program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, NH and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in White River Junction, VT. The program pairs together undergraduates and Dartmouth medical students to engage in patient visitation and carry on conversations with patients on the Medical Specialties floors (i.e. inpatient medicine) at DHMC and on the mental/behavioral health unit at VAMC. The program seeks to help patients by being present to hear their stories and offer them encouragement during treatment. The program for the coming year will begin with an orientation/certification program shortly after the beginning of the fall term.

To learn and read more about the program (and read testimonials), please visit: http://geiselmed.dartmouth.edu/mdphd/links/ears.

This volunteer program is even better than shadowing (an observational activity) as you, through your conversations, are actually helping hospitalized patients deal with their illness and recovery. You also get a chance to broaden your perspective and LISTEN to patient stories, while also learning from medical students who have successfully navigated the pre-health track!

If you are interested in learning more about this program:
Please join us by adding your name, contact information, and the volunteer site you would be interested in visiting to the Google Form at this link!<https://goo.gl/forms/zDIIVRFfyNDM8LSp2>

If you have any questions the program, please feel free to email the organizers: Arvind Suresh ([log in to unmask])<mailto:[log in to unmask])> or Yasmin Kamal ([log in to unmask])<mailto:[log in to unmask])>.

Thank you for your interest in Dartmouth Ears.
