Hi Everyone!


Tonight at Theology on Tap, we'll be trying something a little different.  Instead of focusing on reflecting our daily lives, we will be looking at how different dimensions of faith are exemplified and reflected in a particular work.  Specifically, we'll be examining the award-winning musical Hamilton, with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.  The show is rich with direct Biblical allusions, but it also reflects dimensions of faith, such as grace, justice, and the value and purpose of our lives, without directly addressing them within a faith context.


Ideas for discussion may include:

- How does the show use direct Biblical allusions to enrich the meaning of the text/music?

-  How do characters (or their historical counterparts), such as Aaron Burr and George Washington, confront their own connections to faith?

-  How might principles of different faith traditions manifest in the show in indirect ways?
