"Socioeconomic status can be a hidden minority. When people say 'wow, you're at work all the time,' I sometimes wonder if they know that I need the money to be at Dartmouth." - anonymous '15

"I am a low-income, socially awkward, dark-skinned, nappy-haired, thick-bodied, queer, public-school-educated black woman. I don't think there is a home for me on this/any campus." - anonymous '18

"I worry about graduation and what my friends might think of my parents, who don't speak, dress, or carry themselves like 90% of this school's white-collar parents. I'm afraid that I'll be ashamed of them." - anonymous '16

TL;DR: Have a story you want to share with campus on how class has impacted your or a friend's Dartmouth experience? Fill out the following link to be featured in the #DartmouthIAmHere photo campaign! http://goo.gl/forms/csa7Dxn6wJ

IMPT: You do NOT have to be from any specific socioeconomic background to share. We would love to hear from all different perspectives, including allies.

A couple '16s are starting a new project called Dartmouth Class Confessions; its goal is to create greater campus awareness and dialogue around the unspoken experiences of students from lower-income/class backgrounds. The first initiative will be a Facebook photo project titled #DartmouthIAmHere.

Modeled on #PrincetonIAmHere (check it out here! https://m.facebook.com/ptonhmc/albums/917129511661028/) they will be collecting the stories of various students and how their Dartmouth experiences have been impacted by class differences. This can be anything, from a reflection on identity on campus to financial responsibilities.

Please blitz out to any list servs you're on, as well as any other communities who you think would be relevant to this project, to ask for interested participants! They can either share their story anonymously or be featured on our Facebook page with their photo and story. There's a Google form for stories and names - please share as you feel appropriate! Launch date is tentatively set by the end of the month, if possible, so it would be great to have photographing and story collecting finished by April 30th. http://goo.gl/forms/csa7Dxn6wJ

It is incredibly important to change campus norms of silence around class issues and create a more inclusive community for students from all socioeconomic backgrounds, and on behalf of everyone involved in the project, we really hope that we can count on you to help us reach this goal.
