Announcement from David Kotz, Associate Dean of the Faculty for the Sciences.....?

"I'm pleased to announce an expansion and restructuring of the Health Professions Program, also known as the pre-health advising program. The Health Professions Program (HPP) currently includes an Advisor (Sarah Berger) and a Program Coordinator (Annette Hamilton); we will soon be recruiting a third staff person to fill the new role of Associate Director. Dr. Timothy Lahey will take on the role of Faculty Director in July, providing overall guidance and leadership for the program. Tim is an Associate Professor of Medicine and of Microbiology and Immunology at Geisel, practices medicine in the Infectious Diseases and International Health clinic at DHMC, and co-teaches undergraduate courses in Anthropology. Together, this expanded team will continue to advise and support the more than 1,000 students who express interest in health-related careers.

The Health Professions Program has benefited for many years from the passion and leadership of Professor Lee Witters, a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry, and Biological Sciences. I deeply appreciate Lee for his incredible dedication to this program, for his energetic support of these students, and for his willingness to remain involved while Tim takes on the leadership of the team. Lee will lead the HPP shadowing program for one more year and will remain the faculty advisor to the Nathan Smith Society. Lee also leads the Science Teaching Fellows program and teaches courses in Biological Sciences.

As of July 1st, the Health Professions Program will become part of the Dean of the Faculty division"
