*Business-Plan Competition:  To be eligible for the FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLAR first place prize in the DES undergraduate greener ventures business competition, you must submit a letter of intent (three to four sentence proposal) to the DES blitz account by THIS FRIDAY, 1/27.  ANY UNDERGRADUATE individual or team can enter.  See below for more details

*The DES's first meeting of the term will take place Wednesday night!
What: A chance to:
- Get details about the DES's business plan competition before THIS FRIDAY's initial submission deadline
- Find what else the DES is doing during the winter and spring
- Hear about MassChallenge, a start-up competition and accelerator with a $1 MILLION grand prize open to any start-up from any industry

When: 7 p.m. THIS WEDNESDAY, JAN. 25
Where: Rocky 1
Why: Because you want to get up-to-speed with what the DES is doing - and, if you're entering the business plan contest, you want all the help you can get

*BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION details:
What do you need to do?

- Come up with a business idea. This can be ANYTHING, as long as you believe it can sell!
- Submit a three- to four-sentence proposal for your business idea to the DES blitz account by FRIDAY, JANUARY 27TH.
- After you've entered the competition by submitting this short proposal, you'll need to begin to write a two-page executive summary that outlines your business plan, which will be due February 10th.

What happens next?
-A panel of qualified judges will select 20 semifinalists
-These semifinalists will write a pitch deck and will receive help from Tuck students at a workshop in mid-February
-5 finalists will be selected from the

- The prize money is as follows: $15,000 for the first place winner, $3,000 for second place, and $2,000 for third place.
- More important than the prize money, however, is the exposure and the feedback you'll gain from the process. Having your ideas critiqued by entrepreneurs is by far the most helpful part of the contest – and gaining connections to the contest’s judges is invaluable.
