A note to the Dartmouth Community:

This Wednesday May 4 Dick's House is providing free HIV test to the Dartmouth Community in Collis Common Ground. These tests consist of a quick mouth swab done in private, with all results kept completely confidential.

This event is not only a test for HIV but a show of solidarity for the LGBT rights movement and other affected communities. While death by HIV has decreased drastically since the 90's the CDC reports that there are increasing rates of infection for many communities at risk.

· Youth aged 13 to 24 accounted for more than 1 in 5 new HIV diagnoses in 2014.

· Young gay and bisexual males accounted for 8 in 10 HIV diagnoses among youth in 2014.

· At the end of 2012, 44% of youth ages 18 to 24 years living with HIV did not know they had HIV.

· In 2010, Hispanics/Latinos comprised 21% of the new HIV infections. The rate of new HIV infections for Hispanics/Latinos (27.5) was three times the rate for others (8.7)

· The estimated rate of new HIV infections among African Americans (68.9) was 7.9 times as high as the rate in others (8.7).

· There was a 12 percent increase in HIV incidence among MSM overall,

· The youngest MSM "men who have sex with men" (aged 13-24) increased 22 percent, from 7,200 infections in 2008 to 8,800 in 2010. cdc.gov<http://cdc.gov/>

If you have the time, please consider getting tested.
