Hey campus, and more specifically, HELLO 18s!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to Dartmouth. Here's hoping most of you are starting to feel settled and like this place is becoming more and more your own (because it is!). Once you get to that point, though, or even before, you might start itching for a little time away from it all, a little bit of aDvEnTuRe, and that's where we come in.

Whether you're a lifelong climber or just want to see a sunrise now and then, the Dartmouth Outing Club is for you. So, should you find yourself with some free time in the next few days, along with a desire to spend it in a cool way, here are a few of the things you can do with the DOC:

~ CLIMBING GYM OPEN HOURS ~

What: Open hours at Dartmouth's very own indoor climbing gym! Come hang out, meet leaders in the Mountaineering Club, and climb.
When: Friday 5 PM to 8 PM
Where: In the basement of the Maxwell apartments, near the River Cluster. Check out this<http://doc.dartmouth.edu/mw/images/0/0b/Map_to_Dartmouth_Climbing_Gym.jpeg> map.
Why: The Daniels Climbing Gym is one of the more unique and fun resource on campus, and it's open most afternoons to all Dartmouth students!

~ FRANCONIA RIDGE HIKE ~

What: A 9 mile loop up to and across the Franc Ridge, a knife-edge trail above tree-line in the White Mountains with unparalleled views and including several 4,000+ footers.
When: Friday 8 AM to ~6 PM (back in time for climbing open hours)
Why: This one is a true classic, an awesome intro to hiking in the Whites and outdoor adventuring at Dartmouth in general. Get one last excursion in and meet some new folks before classes start! Though it's not quite as intense as it sounds, know that we will all be breathing a little (but that's what it's about!).
Cost: $7 for DOC members, $14 for non-members (food included for both)
Leader: Hunter van Adelsberg
Blitz: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> to sign up!

~ WATER SPORT RENTALS AT LEDYARD ~

What: Rent a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle board at Ledyard Canoe Club and paddle around the Connecticut River.
When: 9 AM to 8 PM this coming Saturday and Sunday.
Where: The Ledyard boathouse is down on the Connecticut, past the rowing boathouse. Check out directions here<http://www.ledyardcanoeclub.org/directions.html>.
Why: FUN.
Cost: $10/hour or FREE for the day with a Ledyard membership.

Also check out Cabin and Trail's email out to campus for even more ways to get out. And, if you do not have a DOC membership but would like to buy one, talk to Julie Bell in room 119 of Robinson Hall. $20 for the year, $50 for all four.

Welcome (back) everyone!

YITOOD (Yours-In-The-Out-Of-Doors),

The DOC
