Exploring Pattern in Decoration at ArtisTree Ceramics Studio

Date: Saturday, April 21

Time: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Location:

ArtisTree Community Arts Center

Cost:

$150 for the full day workshop

Register at: https://artistreevt.org/exploring-pattern-in-decoration.html

This one-day, intensive hands-on workshop welcomes you to explore the main elements in analyzing and building up patterns in decoration on clay. By looking at pots and dissecting the ornamentation in terms of shape, line, rhythm, space, and symbolism, one discovers the key that unlocks the infinitely-inspiring world of the decorative arts. Investigating these elements, and then applying them to your own artistic projects and goals, you will develop true stepping-stones to your own style of decoration.

Miranda Thomas was introduced to pottery at age 16 and has apprenticed and worked with some of the world’s most notable potters. Thomas received a BA in Ceramics from the West Surrey College of Art & Design in Farnham, England. Her pottery is collected in hundreds of homes, including those of celebrities and dignitaries. She has designed diplomatic gifts for President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, UN Secretary Generals Ban Ki Moon and Kofi Annan, and the Clinton Administration, including former President Bill Clinton's gift to Pope John Paul II. She is married to furniture maker Charles Shackleton, with whom she owns ShackletonThomas, and is a visiting ceramics teacher at Harvard University. Time: 7:30pm to 9:30pm

Location:

ArtisTree Community Arts Center

Come listen to Danika and the Jeb in the Hayloft!

Jeb’s clean and sophisticated style of playing along with Danika’s smooth, soulful vocals has created a own unique blend of acoustic pop.

If when you hear the term ‘acoustic duo’ you imagine two people sitting on stools, lightly strumming guitars, singing about how life has treated them poorly, think again. Danika & the Jeb are dynamic, uplifting, and fun, while their music is a soulful combination of artfully written songs and powerful musical phrasing.

Danika and Jeb are taking stages of all sizes by storm - having opened for mainstream heavyweights such as Lyle Lovett, Dierks Bentley, Phil Vassar, Tracy Lawrence, and others, to being named 2016 Artists of the Year from Concerts in your Home, their soulful and intoxicating sound lures in new fans daily.
