With a 2pm curfew our birding today was supposed to be limited. It was great
none the less. A FOY Wood Thrush at the Milt Frye Nature Area along with
several other new arrivals.
A Lesser Scaup at the Wilder Dam was seen and confirmed by others. Also
present was a Brown Thrasher, Northern Waterthursh (feeding with, and like,
Spotted Sandpipers) and a Yellow Warbler.
And then we got home, before our curfew I might add. A singing Towhee
greeted us at the door, followed by a flyby Northern Goshawk. The next bird
was in its own league: a Golden-crowned Sparrow. It has now been seen and
photographed by almost 10 people, and represents the second Vermont record I
know of. 28 species in all from the yard.
Finally a Woodcock as I write this.
Great Birding,
Spencer
