So, I set off this morning to look for a Brown Thrasher, it is May 1. I
walk the dirt dam(UN Village) access road to the dam gate house, then along
the top of the dam. Then to the overlook with flag pole.
Nice walk, sunny. Ovenbirds, Black and White warblers, no Ru Grouse or
Hermit thrushes. Flicker, Song and White thr Sparrows.
Spotted Sandpipers behind the huge lake of dam. Lots of water !
Went to end, sat down with the sun at my back, looking out toward Rt 132.
Field Sparrows (resident) singing away. And a Brown Thrasher singing atop a
cherry tree. AND..
Underneath that same tree was a large black animal. Yoicks. Sweet. I have
seen sign in Thetford but not a live one. I have seen these in No VT, the
west , Canada etc It sure had a male presence about it.
seemed to be grazing on the fresh grass. Watch this ~ 250 pound Black Bear
for a good 10+ minutes. Birding has its rewards.
