Heard this morning in Brattleboro along the West River is a
Phoebe...twice. Plus, one Robin.
I'm amazed by the proliferation of hawks along I-91. Is it the
availability of road kill that causes them to perch just off the
road?
Last week, three of us were traveling back from a meeting in
Claremont to Hanover and saw five hawks from the Ascutney exit
to the Norwich exit all perched on low tree limbs adjacent to
the road.
Yesterday, as I passed over the White River heading north to
Norwich in the early AM, I saw a crow tightly circling the top
of a large spruce tree near the ledges that the highway is cut
through. Sure enough, there was a hawk perched near the top of
the tree trying its best to ignore the harassment.
