        This is a newly created position for our Language Laboratory.  The
person hired would work for the Lab Director Xueying Wang.  This is
strictly a computer (techie) specialist position.

        Responsibilities include technical support and management for
academic and
multi-platform networked workstations including hardware/software

programs and performance; assisting
with planning and implementation of services and support for PC and Mac
computer lab; troubleshooting sound, A/V and computer hardware and software
peripherals; providing technical and A/V assistance; managing software
standardization, license compliance, and inventory control; training
faculty, staff and students in use of systems; establishing password
protected sub-webs for posting confidential information; providing
technical support in multi-media development;
administering user accounts and proxy services; identifying new equipment
needs; interacting
with outside vendors; and other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
                        At least 2 years related experience
(additionaleducation may be substituted for some experience);
        knowledge of Macintosh and Windows operating systems and servers,
UNIX, HTML, network information systems (Internet/Web), word processing,
database, report-writing applications;
        comprehensive knowledge of hardware, peripherals, and software
products and their use
including network servers, server management applications, and a broad
range of applications such as Authorware, QuickTime, and MS Office Suite;
                excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact
and consult effectively with faculty, students and staff;
        ability to work independently.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
                        Bachelor's degree;
        previous experience in an academic environment.
