* WISP Program Information: Internship Preference Form *

Deadline Sunday, October 21, midnight

Any ’22 and ’21 women applying for WISP internships please be aware that
the Internship Preference form will be due by Sunday, October 21,
midnight.  The preference form will be available on the WISP website (https://students.dartmouth.edu/wisp/internships/prospective-interns/internship-timeline)
by October 19th. Please note that you will have also needed to complete
the WISP Intern Profile form (see link here: https://students.dartmouth.edu/wisp/internships/how-apply

* WISP Peer Mentor Program (PMP) *

WISP PMP Kick-off Dinner

The WISP Peer Mentor program will hold its kick-off dinner Friday
October 190 in Cummings Great Room, Thayer School of Engineering. The
dinner provides a fun opportunity for mentors and mentees to meet and
get to know one another. You must have signed up for the Peer Mentor
Program to attend. Check your e-mail for details sent from the WISP Peer
Mentor Program Coordinators ([log in to unmask]).

* Wellness @ Dartmouth: Yoga *

Free Yoga for Stress Relief

Dick’s House Student Health Service is offering free yoga classes to
help students relieve stress. Classes meet every Monday in Sarner
Underground, starting 9/17 from 4:00-5:00 p.m.  They have mats available

Free Mindfulness Meditation

Dick’s House Student Health Service is offering free lunchtime
mindfulness meditation (with fruit and cheese) every Friday from 12:00-12:30

* Dartmouth STEM Event: Celebrating Biomedical Research  *

Celebration of Biomedical Research @ Dartmouth

The 4th annual Celebration of Biomedical Research at Dartmouth (CBRaD)
poster 
session will be on Wednesday, October 17th from 6:00-9:30 PM at the Life

Sciences Center (second floor).

This poster session will highlight research in all of the science
graduate 
programs under the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies,
Geisel and 
biomedical-related research labs throughout Dartmouth. All are welcome
to 
attend and they will be having an attendee raffle.

* Dartmouth STEM Event: Autism Lecture *

Neuroscience of Autism Lecture, October 18

Come hear Dr. Caroline Robertson of Dartmouth’s Autism Research
Initiative and new professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences
Department talk about "Autism: A view from neuroscience."  The talk will
take place on Thursday, October 18, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Filene

* Dartmouth Researcher Studies Cognitive Neuroscience of Octopuses *

Dr. Peter Tse, Professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences
Department, recently received funding from the National Science
Foundation for his work developing an underwater EEG system that can be
used to study the cognition of octopuses. To read more about it see:

* Dartmouth Research on Violent Video Games *

Dartmouth’s Jay Hull, Associate Dean of Faculty for the Social Sciences
and Professor in the Psychological and Brain Sciences Department, and
colleagues examined changes in teen behavior related to video games and
violence. The found that violent video games playing did lead to more

* Dartmouth Climate Scientist: Heat and Humidity Problem (New York Times)
*

Did you find this past summer hotter and more humid than usual? People
in Hanover certainly had that opinion and so did climate scientists.
Ethan Coffel, a postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth’s Neukom Institute,
along with Columbia University climate scientists, recently published an
opinion piece in the New York Times entitled “Heat and Humidity Are a
