For those of you on the "bleeding edge..."
I have set up a Twitter profile for the UVCB on Twitter (@uvcb_org in
Twitter-speak), and have linked the profile into GroupTwitter.
What this means is, if you are a Twitter user you can now "follow"
@uvcb_org, get instant updates and exchange instant mini-messages to
the rest of the band. By linking the profile to GroupTwitter,
followers can direct twitter to @uvcb_org and send tweets to other
followers.
A few things:
1. Those of you who are curious about Twitter (perhaps you've heard it
mentioned on NPR, during NASCAR broadcasts or by your grandkids...)
you can investigate it at:
http://twitter.com
Please Google various combinations of "twitter tutorial" for more information ;)
2. Using http://twitter.com or your favorite Twitter application, add
@uvcb_org to the list you are following. At this point you will see
things that are sent via @uvcb_org
3. I will then notice that you are following @uvcb_org and will add
you to the list that @uvcb_org is following. At this point you can
send direct tweets to *all* followers of @uvcb_org
THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT purely to "play" with new modes of communication!
Have a GREAT one!
John
PS: While this innovation makes Twittering to the rest of the band
during rehearsals possible, please note that texting while playing
valved instruments became illegal on 1 July in NH, AK and the District
of Columbia...
