Our group of 19 tallied 46 species. Most of the morning was spent along
the River Trail (west side of S. Main St.) to the Connecticut River and
back. We had good views of several species of waterfowl and numerous
solitary sandpipers feeding on the exposed mud flats. Bird song and
movement picked up as the morning progressed. A portion of the group
continued on the east side along Brook Rd. and were lucky to spot a female
eastern towhee, hear and see a male American redstart and a common
yellowthroat,as well as a lone broad-winged hawk soaring overhead.
A complete list is below. Thank you to George Clark for assisting with
this annual Hanover Conservancy spring walk and a shout out to Adam Burnett
for his extremely sharp ears.
