Please consider participating in the upcoming backyard birds surveys in
February. Your participation provides an early warning system for birds
in need of conservation help. "Data from [these bird counts] can help
scientists learn how birds are affected by environmental changes
including urbanization, global warming, and diseases such as West Nile
virus." Last year, participants of the Great Backyard Bird Count
reported more thatn 7.5 million birds of 623 species; 60,616 checklists
were submitted. Join the data stream this year!

Count birds from a favorite place for at least 15 minutes.
Record the highest number of each species you see at any one time.
Data can be submitted on-line or mailed in.
