A male and female Pileated Woodpecker were hanging out together near the swamp on Hedgehog Rd. (off of Old County Rd.) just north of Plainfield. I spotted the male first, working away on a tree trunk. I took some photos of him from my car and then drove up the road to turn around. I stopped again on the way back to take a few more shots of what I assumed was the same bird, then suddenly saw another Pileated and realized that I had just been taking photos of the female!
