Lots of sparrows today at Tullando Farm and Trinity Farm, mostly Song and
Savannahs, but also a few lingering American Tree Sparrows and two Vesper
Sparrows at Trinity Farm. An image of one of the Vespers is in my eBird
report: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S44569949
Back at home, my eight-year old son ran out of the woods, saying he flushed
a woodcock from it’s nest (he knows his birds). I have been looking for an
American Woodcock nest for years as these birds are common on my property.
Sure enough, he led me to the nest and three eggs. I ran for my iPad, took
a quick photo (here in eBird report)
https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S44570174 and we retreated to the porch
where we watched the female return to the nest. I will keep my eye on it
(the nest is about 50 feet from our house).
