Yesterday, circling high above I-91 in Hadley, MA, a black vulture.

On my way to LI, several days before, beside a score or more of redtails, I
had a pair of black vultures above I-84, west of Waterbury, CT.

Best LI birds: a flock of long-tailed ducks off the jetty on the west side
of Jones Inlet, blown in by 40- to 50 mph onshore winds, and an immature
goshawk on Jones Beach, hunting robins in the thickets behind the primary
dunes at the Tobay (JFK) Bird Sanctuary.
