Last evening as I was checking my Chimney Swift roost spot at the old
Orford Academy building (only 5 swifts), a female Merlin flew in and
perched nearby. It hunted around the parking lot, perching several times
and I got good looks despite diminishing light. This was my first Orford
Merlin, although I thought I heard one in this same area last year.
