This morning (Sept. 17) around 9:30 there was an exceptional presence of dozens
of  birds along a short section of the Heyl Trail where it passes between
woodland on one side and a field on the other, close to the Elm Street trailhead
in Norwich. A combination of fog plus distance limited my identifications to 14
species among which highlights were 3 Eastern Bluebirds, a Hermit Thrush, a
Northern Parula, a Magnolia Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Black-throated
Green Warbler, a Common Yellowthroat, a Lincoln's Sparrow, and a White-throated
Sparrow.


Also along Elm Street, later this morning,  near the intersection with Jones
Circle, were two Scarlet Tanagers in fall garb.
