I had a bird at my house yesterday that I can't determine what it was.
It was about 4-5 inches in height. Had a forked tail that didn't wag up and down except as it landed to steady itself. Olive green under body with darker back. No bars on the wings with the exception of the end had a faint look of a bar, solid gray head, no markings around the eye. It sat rather upright on the perch it was on. It grabbed a bug from the lawn and flew up to my deck chair and gobbled it down, stayed for about 10 minutes so I got a good look through binos. Preened itself so it stretched it's wings out for a good look at the entire wing. It was larger than a warbler but doesn't fit the descriptions of a vireo. The coloring was most like a western kingbird but I don't know if we're suppose to have them here?
