So I was just driving Academy Rd in Thetford.  and some birds flew up from
the road as I drove by.

 

Hmm..  bigger than goldfinches(in the road ?)   , no wing bars..  and they
weren't juncos.

 

I better turn around.  All 3 were in the middle of the road.  "feeding" on
salt ? grit ?     8 feet from my car window.

 

Cute the way they had to turn their heads and side scoop the grit.  Their
bills are crossed after all.

 

3 Red Crossbills.  1 was a male.
