FOY song sparrow, Canaan NH yard. Also first robin singing, predawn dog walk. How we have all missed birdsong.
Strange duck-ish lump, mostly white, wriggling, pretty large, on the shoreline. When it unwound what turned out to be its neck and head, it became a Common Merganser who had been preening. I had never seen one almost completely out of the water. Who knew they were mostly white. Mate showed up. Very little open water.
