This is a late posting of some birds I saw in Pompy late Saturday afternoon on a bike ride from Norwich village out to Pompy and back along Route 5.

I was on the Kendall Station side, and heard an Oriole which sounded slightly off from the usual Baltimore Oriole song. I pursued it up and down parallel to the tracks trying to get a visual. Finally caught one quick glimpse through the glasses and thought it might be an Orchard Oriole (more brick-red color), but I'm by no means sure. Would be interested to know if anyone else has seen an Orchard O. in the Kendall Station area.

Moments later, I crossed over to the boat launch/mud flats side, where I immediately heard a more familiar sounding Oriole song. This individual immediately flew out in the open and across the lawn of the house next to the boat launch, giving me a good visual confirmation of a Baltimore O. with bright orange coloration.

Otherwise it was remarkably quiet, with almost no waterfowl and absolutely no action on the exposed mud flats.
