Yesterday at the second-story cylinder feeder (safe from bears) we had
Goldfinches, Purple Finches, House Finches, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted
and Red-breasted Nuthatches, Chickadees, (of course) - and a Cardinal.
Rarely have Cardinals here and almost never perched on the feeder. Sure
hope he sticks around...
On the ground - looks like we've got a Robin pair and a small gang of
Juncos.
Monday late-morning on Campbell Flats Road, appeared all of the nesting
boxes except one are occupied by Tree Swallows. I sat down in the roadside
grass at some distance from the single bluebird residence and watched Mr.
Bluebird calmly but persistently run off the swallows who just as
persistently kept trying to check out that box. In between these
encounters, Mr. & Mrs. BB continued foraging and adding grass to the box.
Very busy pair. Sure hope they prevail.
