This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, April 20th, 
2011..



A SANDHILL CRANE, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and 22 WILSON'S SNIPE were seen in 
Moore Fields located off of Route 155A in Durham on April 17th, and a 
LAUGHING GULL and 4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen here on the 14th.



A LITTLE GULL was reported from Bicentennial Park in Hampton on April 17th, 
an adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Frost Point in Odiorne Point 
State Park in Rye on April 19th, and a GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Seabrook 
and one was seen in Hampton, both on April 17th.



A RAZORBILL was seen off the coast in North Hampton on April 19th, and a 
BLACK GUILLEMOT continues to be seen in Rye Harbor.



A SNOW GOOSE was seen at Horseshoe Pond in Concord on April 18th.



6 GLOSSY IBIS, and 10 SNOWY EGRETS were reported from coastal Rye, and a 
GLOSSY IBIS was seen on Cornwell Drive in Keene, all on April 14th.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen along Route 120 in Claremont on April 14th, and 
one was seen along the Contoocook River in Antrim on April 18th.



3 NORTHERN SHOVELERS were seen on South Mill Pond in Portsmouth on April 
17th, and a NORTHERN SHOVELER and 13 LESSER SCAUP were seen at the Exeter 
Wastewater Treatment Plant on April 14th.



6 RED-NECKED GREBES were seen on Webster Lake in Franklin on April 19th, 7 
were seen on Long Pond in Concord on the 17th, 6 were seen on Turkey Pond in 
Concord on the 17th, and 1 was seen on Turtle Pond in Concord on the 17th.



A RED-NECKED GREBE and 5 LESSER SCAUP were seen on Turkey Pond in Concord on 
April 19th.



2 RED-NECKED GREBES, a pair of GADWALL, and a GREAT CORMORANT were seen on 
the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on April 18th.



A RUDDY DUCK was seen on Turtle Pond in Concord on April 14th.



6 LESSER SCAUP and a PIED-BILLED GREBE were reported from Powdermill Pond in 
Hancock on April 19th.



3 PIED-BILLED GREBES were seen at the Grant Brook outlet on the Connecticut 
River in Lyme, and one was seen on Turtle Pond in Concord, all on April 
19th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Jefferson on April 18th.



4 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen at a birdfeeder along Route 1A in Rye on 
April 19th.



21 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen along Day Street in Manchester, and 2 were 
seen on East Hollis Street in Nashua, all on April 14th.



COMMON REDPOLL sightings during the past week included 30 in Jefferson on 
April 18th, 40 in Laconia on April 18th, 2 COMMON REDPOLLS in Lyme on the 
20th, 1 from Wolfeboro on the 14th, and 2 from Warner on the 14th.



10 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Warner on April 14th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER and 2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were reported from 
Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on April 19th.



2 PURPLE MARTINS were reported from Pickering Ponds in Rochester on April 
16th, and one was seen in Seabrook on the 17th.



10 CLIFF SWALLOWS were reported from Exeter on April 14th.



There were good numbers of TREE SWALLOWS, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS, 
and BARN SWALLOWS seen during the past week, but only a few BANK SWALLOWS 
were reported.



2 FISH CROWS were reported from Horseshoe Pond in Concord on April 20th, and 
one was heard in Rochester on the 17th.



107 AMERICAN KESTRELS and 12 MERLINS were tallied migrating north along the 
coast on April 17th.



Migrating BROAD-WINGED HAWKS were reported from several locations during the 
past week including 30 seen near Powdermill Pond in Hancock on April 14th.



2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were reported from Rumney on April 19th, and 2 MERLINS 
were reported from the Hanover Country Club on the 20th.



An AMERICAN PIPIT was reported from Keene on April 19th.



A male RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in Nashua on April 20th.



A BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported from Willard Pond in Antrim on April 15th, 
one was seen at Turkey Pond in Concord on the 16th, one was seen in Rye on 
the 19th, and was seen in Keene on the 19th.



A LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH was heard singing along Nelson Brook near

Sargent/Durrell Mountain Road in Gilmanton on April 15th.



A BROWN THRASHER was seen along Island Path in Hampton on April 16th, and 3 
EASTERN TOWHEES were reported from Rye on April 19th.



A VESPER SPARROW was reported from Dover on April 20th.



There were several sightings of WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS during the past week, 
including 5 in Hampton on April 18th.



There were a few reports of RUSTY BLACKBIRDS during the past week.



A SPOTTED SANDPIPER was seen at Willard Pond in Antrim on April 19th.



51 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were tallied migrating through a stand of white 
pines adjacent to the Ashuelot River in Keene, and 75 were seen migrating 
along the coast mainly in Rye, all on April 19th.



A CASPIAN TERN was seen in the Connecticut River valley on the Vermont side 
on April 20th.
