At 6:30 pm, I quickly checked the Wilder boat access area, where there
is now considerable open water. At the north end of Huntley Meadows,
off Beaver Meadow Rd in Norwich, 2 Am. Woodcock were peenting at 7:20
pm. They flew off at 7:25, perhaps seeking more open terrain, so no
courtship flights followed. I've had at least one male here
consistently in recent years, so it is a reliable spot to witness displays.
