Today Ed Hack and I looked for birds in the northeastern part of
Norwich, VT. Among highlights were 2 Green-winged Teal among dozens of
Mallards at Pompy and a Great Egret in the field on the north side of
Route 132 across from Pompy, Raptorial birds were well represented in
northeastern Norwich with a few Turkey Vultures, a Cooper's Hawk, 2
Red-tailed Hawks together, 3 American Kestrels together and joined for
a time by a Merlin. Shorebirds at Pompy today included at least 12
Killdeer, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, and a number of Least Sandpipers.
Also seen in northeastern Norwich today were 2 Eastern Kingbirds, a
few Barn Swallows near their nesting area under the southbound I-91
overpass at Pompy, a Savannah Sparrow, and 2 fall-plumaged Bobolinks.

George Clark
Norwich, VT
