Because of a recent visit from a bear on the Kendal campus, ground-floor
feeders have been taken down. I still have feeders hanging from our
third-floor porch. Today we have had up to a dozen juncos desperately
trying to feed from a hanging suet feeder which is swinging in the wind.
Lots of fluttering wings as they work to figure this out, but more and
more, they are succeeding in hanging on to the side of the feeder instead
of their more comfortable way of feeding on the ground.
