Saw the red necked grebe the other day and a pair of mallards paddled out to deeper water and started diving....like some other ducks...never saw diving mallards before... Nice smattering of swallow species too! Cliff, barn, rough winged(1), & tree. RB Grosbeak this morning...lots of cowbirds this year. Hermit thrush sunday. A BW hawk nesting nearby hunting the yard and an Ivory Billed woodpecker working over our dead snags in the yard, very tame. It stays around while I run carpentry tools. great photo opportunities. I've seen him mine for 2" grubs, got to be worth the effort, the bugs are huge....must be juicy too :o)
