Probably the track pad is mechanically broken but perhaps '/users/you/Library/Preferences/ByHost/.GlobalPreferences...plist' (invisible file) is corrupted. Personally I have never experienced such a problem, though.

Isn't it better to get a Mac allowing you to resize windows?
